There is a line that seems to be popular right now in online dating from the men . . . “You won’t be disappointed.” This is often used when begging for an introduction. It is an incredible and immediate turn off. How can anyone who doesn’t know me be so grossly presumptuous. It doesn’t come off as cocky or arrogant, but instead as ignorant. It would be so much more appropriate if they simply said, “I’d like a chance to meet, you will recognize me from my picture and profile.” Of course that usually isn’t the case, but that might be a refreshing start! And even if they do look like and sound like who they claim to be, it doesn’t mean there is going to be a fit, so disappointment can still be a factor. This is afterall the game of NEXT.
