Three quick tips for making the holidays the merriest ever:
RELAX . . . . Holidays can be really stressful with family and friends placing extra demands on your time. Too much company staying for too long (you do know the guest and fish rule, both can be stinky after 3 days.) Craziness with so many parties to attend. Just do what you want to do and skip the obligation.
GUILT IS A CHOICE, DON’T CHOOSE IT.
GIVE BACK . . . there is a wonderful rule of thumb that I recommend to keep your life manageable. For every new thing that comes into it, two old things have got to go. We all have too much stuff! Stop the chaos, stem the overwhelm and give away what you aren’t using, don’t enjoy, doesn’t fit, and don’t need. If you haven’t used it, worn it, or looked at it in two years, ditch it.
MOVE FORWARD INTO 2009, LIGHTER AND BRIGHTER.
EMBRACE THE NOW . . . . Do you know how many people I hear saying “when I just get through the holidays, “ “when next year comes” or any other like sentiment. Learn to embrace the moment you are in, it is the only one you are guaranteed. Life holds no promises; it is fragile, unpredictable and highly perishable. Decide to make each second count. Time is our greatest non-renewable resource, don’t waste yours waiting for tomorrow.
LIVE FOR TODAY, DREAM OF TOMORROW, CHERISH THE PAST.
Have an amazing holiday whether you are surrounded by family and friends or you prefer to make it a quiet celebration by yourself. I’ll be back to connect and share in the New Year!
