“Infamous” –
Toby Jones, Sandra Bullock, Sigourney Weaver, Gwyneth Paltrow, Hope Davis
I didn’t but make it half way through this. The costumes were delicious, the sets most effective, but it was just way to close to Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Capote. I can’t imagine what made the makers think that audiences could see virtually the same movie with the same plot and outcome and simply decidedly different casts and have them both be a success w/in 18 months. I agree this cast was laden with big names, the Hoffman was much deeper, richer and less gilded. While Jones may have been more the real size and image of Capote, this seemed almost farcical and caricaturish. Hoffman made a character that has often been the butt of jokes, and a true eccentric almost likeable and certainly human. This was just this side of Roger Rabbit. Don’t bother unless you really want to ogle at costumes and scenery.
