Motherisms . . . Living in a Barn

Did your Mother ever get after you to close doors with the reminder that “we don’t live in a barn?” Goodness I remember that one so well and to this day I am a big door closer. I keep my closet doors closed. (I don’t really think my clothes need to be on display or aired out though it seems most folks leave those doors open.) I keep doors to unused rooms closed like the powder room, the guest bedroom, the exercise room (soon to be kept open, it has been way too long.) But really, don’t you have that Mom voice in the back of your head that admonishes you quietly or not so quietly on those habits that were drilled in as children?? MG
