On Car Shopping . . . .

Yes, it is that time for a new vehicle. I want to get the deduction for the gross vehicle weight over 6K lbs. and get a vehicle that will fit in my somewhat limited garage opening! The torture is that there was a great deal on a Mercedes SUV, but when I stacked it up against the BMW X5 I just couldn’t get past the better aesthetics on the BMW. Mercedes looked old fashioned without electronic gauges and read outs, and its front grill is flashier. I like the more tailored and state of the art BMW, plus it is definitely more fun to drive. Since I put over 100 miles a day on average on my vehicle, I have to love it.

Fortunately I have a friend in the car business and he is kind enough to help me with this as it scares me (yes, me the fearless one!). I get intimidated by car shopping though so far it has been pretty easy. I’d rather buy a house or other big ticket item. I guess it is because I base my car decisions on driveability, auto aesthetic, stereo, and cup holder placement rather than the engine. So with a bit of luck I will have a new vehicle in the garage by New Year’s!
