When you start out in life you are just focused on exploring. As you move from childhood to the teen years, you move from exploring to discovery. From teen to young adulthood it becomes about establishing yourself. As you mature it becomes about meaning.
Interestingly in the age of the Millenials, their quest for meaning starts much earlier today. There are many more teens and young adults already fighting for causes, creating meaning and making a difference, before they have even established themselves.
Meaning in our lives comes from what we give instead of from what we get. It comes from being generous with ourselves, our time, our expertise, and our resources. Meaning has nothing to do with money, in fact many of the people with the most meaningful lives have the least money.
When you want to find deeper meaning in your life, you won’t find it by looking outside yourself. It doesn’t reside in all of the external learning and beliefs you have picked up. Rather it lies within you. Look within for what stirs your heart, ignites your soul, and sparks your mind. Follow the path it shows you and you will find that by making a difference beyond yourself, you are making the biggest difference for yourself.
Take ACTION:
1.Sit quietly, let go of the distractions around you. Tune into your innermost self.
2.What is it you need to see? What is it you need to hear? It is just inside you.
3.Write down what comes up, don’t monitor it or edit it, invite it to come through you.
