A friend sent me the awesome video here last week. She called it mind blowing! Actually it is business growing. . .
Jason Brown, the extraordinary skater featured in this video, excels not just technically but because he is absolutely captivating to watch and he engages his audience entirely. Let’s take a look specifically at what he did so you can apply his winning techniques to your business.

#1 Delights in His Work
It is so clear that he is loving what he is doing and it is one of the reasons he is so good at it. He has trained hard, he has mastered his craft and he is ready to let go and experience the magic of the moment with his audience. It shows. He is smiling. We, his audience (yes, even in video) are mesmerized by his delight. It is kind of like watching a small child do something they just learned.
Are you taking delight in your work? Can your clients see and hear (if you are virtual) you smiling? People are hungry for happiness and looking for joy, they need your energy to be up and positive to connect to. How is your happiness showing up?
#2 Sets the Stage (Visually and Auditorilly)
Jason has selected music that will lead us all to clapping along with him. He has shown up in a costume that enhances his moves and doesn’t distract. He ensures that his routine takes him in front of each section of his audience at least once so they feel his personal impact and emphasis. It’s powerful.
What are you doing to provide a sensory experience for your clients? Do you mix it up and include music in your videos? Do you have a theme song for your events? Do you take the time to address each person in a small group event or to move amongst participants if it is a larger event? Do you speak directly to your market in your articles and blog posts or do they feel generic and not-so-special? How are you connecting with your clients?
#3 Takes Practiced Risks
Jason didn’t have a safe routine at all. As the announcer says, last year he wasn’t doing those jumps well, now he has mastered them and is showing us the result of his hard work. It is still risky.
Are you taking practiced risks with your clients? Are you pulling back the safety net and allowing them to see your vulnerability? At each jump, we held our collective breaths for a flawless landing. We wanted him to succeed. Your clients want you to succeed too. They want to know they are in the best care possible working with you. They also depend on you to lead the way with practiced risks so they can do the same. What risks are you taking so you can reveal more to your clients?
There are lessons around you everday of ordinary individuals in love with their work and making an extraordinary impact. You have the same opportunity, will you take it? COMMENTS WELCOMED AND REQUESTED BELOW! What did you take from Jason’s skating?
