Well, I don’t know about you but I always remember those “motherisms,” you know those sort of lessons she tried to teach us? To this day I can’t abide gum chewing or gum chewers. It is probably crazy or maybe just an idiosynchracy but I always picture a cow chewing its cud as this is the image my mother described for me when we chewed gum. I’ve tried to shake it, but I can’t.
A friend is trying to quit smoking (you either succeed or fail, there is no try!), and is chewing gum constantly. I just can’t be around him, it makes me nuts. Okay, I know I need to get over this, but really if I had a friend with a similar pet peeve, I’d drop the personal habit for whatever times was needed to be around them. And I’m sure I do have some annoying habits, though can’t fathom what they are, beyond uncontrollable knee bouncing at movies and at dinner (nervous energy, so I’m told.)
What is your most annoying habit? What about your biggest pet peeve . . . ? MG
