Do you know that every house I’ve ever wanted, and I’ve owned four, I’ve gotten because I believed they were mine before they actually were. I know that may sound totally crazy, and it’s entirely true.
In each case, I visualized how I would live in the house, what it would be like to entertain my friends there, what each room would look like, how I’d set up my home office, and oh the fun I’d have in my garden. And in each case it looked, felt, and functioned very much like I’d imagined it would.
I’ve done the same with my business, cars I wanted (I’m a sucker for luxury), relationships, my health, my style, and travel. Are you ready to unlock your power? Everyone has it.
Is this magic? No, it’s actually science and has to do with something as simple as “what you focus on expands and comes into view.”
Imagine Your Possibilities!What are you focused on? What is coming into view for you?
If it’s not what you want, then give some serious thought to refocusing.
Most people have trained themselves (and you might have t0) to focus more on what they don’t want than on what they do want. And, guess what, that is exactly what keeps showing up in their life, in their business, in their relationships, in their health, and a lot more.
Have you ever just “known” something bad was going to happen? Or you put a full glass down on the table and thought to yourself, I shouldn’t put that there, it’s going to get knocked over; and then, lo and behold, exactly what you imagined happens?
You can use the power in your mind to imagine positive or negative it is entirely up to you.
EXPERIMENT FOR YOU: For just one day, see if you can go through the entire day without using the word “not.” You’ll find that we are so conditioned to think in terms of what we don’t want (darn it, there is that pesky word showing up already in a contraction) that we get a lot more of that than we do of what we want.
You’ve likely heard about and read about visualization and you may have tried it but without great results. I’ve found the most effective way to power up your vision is to make it real, as in go from your imagination to actual picture format. Now, you may be familiar with vision boarding, but what I want to suggest is the exact method I’ve used and I find it more powerful and personal.
Your Possibilities BookOne of my all time favorite movies, starring Queen Latifah, is “Last Holiday.” In the movie, she has a Possibilities Book, with all of the amazing trips, adventures, and opportunities she wants to have. When she finds out she has a terminal disease, she opens her book, empties her bank account, and embarks on a mission to do everything in her book before her time runs out. It’s awesome!!
I created my own Possibilities Book and I add to it from time to time as well as removing pages of adventures accomplished. What I love about the book is that it is private and all mine. It is also portable so I can take it with me when I travel, if I want to.
Put dividers in your book to define the parts of your life, your health and wellness, your style (clothing and such), your home & lifestyle (including the car you want, boat for weekends, you get the idea), your business goals, your relationships, your travel & fun times, your faith and spiritual desires, and your finances.
Under each divider you are building a new chapter of your life. That chapter can look anyway you want it to. It’s entirely up to you, and please don’t be realistic, dive into fantastical.
Now, please understand that just putting a Possibilities Book together isn’t going to make your dreams come true, it will keep you focused on what you want most and you’ll find your mind coming up with solutions, resources, and creative plans that previously you’d never considered. It is then the ACTION you take on those newly discovered resources and plans that will deliver your dreams.
You hold the key, no one else.
You always have.
