Find Your Focus . . . Motivation to Move You Forward

The world is coming at us faster and faster. There are increasing demands on our time and our attention. It is essential to find your focus in order to get anything done. You cannot do it all, none of us can. So think carefully about what you most want to get done and what the end result will look like. That is where you will find your focus.

Take ACTION:

  1. Describe in vivid detail (in writing) what you want any specific area of your life to look like ~ relationships, career|business, home environment, health, travel, faith, finances, family, friends. You only need to pick one are at first to focus on.
  2. Now look at the activities you are involved in and that endless to do list (because you haven’t yet converted it into a TO CONQUER AGENDA). Which of the activities and action steps on your list are directly tied to your primary focused end result? Put a star next to these.
  3. Start each day with your starred action items at the top of your list. Make sure these get knocked off your list first to answer your primary focus. Everything else is next, some won’t get done but you will have focused on and forwarded your primary focus instead of incremental headway in too many non-primary focuses.

Sounds weird but sometimes to re-focus my mind on the important (rather than all the non-urgent ‘stuff’ we’re surrounded by) I break off and do something else! Usually something really mundane like emptying the dishwasher or hanging up washing (easy cos I work from home) – that requires no real creative thought.
By giving my mind a little break from the constant information overload we’re subjected to, I can somehow return more focussed and creative.

      Hey Mihai,

I think you might be surprised at how you can minimize the crisis and chaos with focus. It is simple, not easy.

Still one of my fave sites!

    Hi Melissa,

This is probably the single hardest thing for me to do right now. But everyday I realize how important it is. Finding focus has never been as challenging as it is right now. There is just such a great opportunity to be pulled in different direction.

This seems simple enough and seems like it might help. I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the quick tip. Much appreciated.

      Hey Rich,

This is the single hardest thing for any of us but without a clear focus we are just running around spreading out energy everywhere and accomplishing next to nothing. Focused energy is how cities are built, businesses are born, and leaders are created . . .

Thank you for powerful reminders! I’m going to go meditate now. Seriously. It refocuses me better than anything else. Sets a positive tone for the day.

    Thanks again,

    Celeste
